Steve Szabo
Whilst I don’t play the guitar or any other instrument I love music and I do play the CD player very well.
I was inspired by the passion of the instrument makers featured in previous ‘Playmakers’ sessions that were a part of the Harbour Sound festivals.
I greatly admire precision workmanship or in this case craftsmanship, and when given the opportunity to take part in an instrument making group arose I grabbed it with both hands.
Now the passion has grabbed me.
I love making guitars and may go on to making other instruments. The 2 guitars that I have made so far are:
- A ‘Classical nylon string’ built from design plans by Irvin Sloan and with much help and patience of Alan Warburton.
- A Steel string ‘Martin D28’ replica built from a kit purchased from eBay in the USA.
You never know I might learn how to play them one day, which would cap off my new found passion, but I do take great pleasure in hearing others play my guitars.
